I grew up on Stanton Avenue and I could see Mr. and Mrs. Luciano sitting on their porch on Collins Avenue from our back porch. She would wave to each and every child as they passed her house on their way to Dilworth School . When I learned that God came to take her home, I was heartbroken. I can say that there is an emptiness now knowing she has passed. Whether you saw her last week or 10 years ago, the feeling is the same. As my late husband, Gary and I would sometimes pass through the old neighborhood at times to check out my old house, we would come through the back alley and so many memories of growing up would flood through me, and there at the Stop sign we would see Mrs. Luciano sitting on her porch. She would wave to us and ask us how we were. At that moment, I felt safe knowing she was watching the old neighborhood. I was so very fortunate to have known a mom like Mrs. Luciano. Thinking of her will always make me remember the simpler times in my life. She certainly completed her mission here on this earth and in her own quiet way she touched so many lives in a very loving way.
Thank you Mrs. Luciano for the memories.......
