Obituary of Emily Hayes
HAYES
EMILY (CORONA)
Emily, 93 died peacefully at her home in O’Hara Twp., on Friday, Oct.21, 2016. Her beloved husband, James C. Hayes, MD., preceded her in death in 2007.
Seven children and their families were blessed by her long and loving presence in their lives: Pat Hayes and Kat Frazier of Dayton, OH; Jan and Ray Tarasovic of Richmond, VA; Nancy Hayes and James Buczynski of Pittsburgh; Wendy DelRe and Steve Duncan of Centerville, OH; Barbara Hayes of Pittsburgh; Jim Hayes of Pittsburgh, and Tom and Chris Hayes of Denver, CO. She was the grandmother of 13: Tim and Chris Berardinis; Amy Tarasovic Talbot; Mike Tarasovic; Emily Hayes- Rowan; Paul, Adam, and Jessica DelRe; Megan Hayes; Sandy and Kimberly Hayes; Erin and Shannon Hayes, and great- grandmother of six. All adored their Nana, whose heart embraced us all. Emmie lived a full and beautiful life. She was devoted to her husband and created a warm and welcoming home filled with love, laughter and fun for her children and their many friends who gathered there. She greatly enjoyed family dinners, holidays and the annual family trip to Stone Harbor, NJ. She was never rattled by the challenges of raising a large family; she was the steady center who celebrated our joys, suffered through our problems and cared for us long after we grew up. We are forever grateful. We are also eternally thankful to Barbara and Megan, whose presence greatly enriched Emmie’s life and to Susan Horner, who was her loving companion in her last years. Friends will be received at McCabe Bros., Inc. Funeral Home, 6214 Walnut Street, Shadyside on Monday, 6-8 pm and Tuesday, 2-4 and 6-8 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Scholastica Church on Wednesday at 10 am. Those wishing to attend, please gather at the church. Interment to follow at Calvary Cemetery.
