What a gift it was to know Jack! As a kid, I remember watching all of you with awe at Horgan family reunions as you — along with my Mom, Andy, Jack, and Jim — told stories, shared memories, poked fun at each other, and laughed together. I remember Jack as being so easy-going in a crowd that could be a little (or a lot) out-of-hand. When I was a kid, Jack also was the one who asked well-placed questions to find out what I cared about and listened to me (or pretended to listen pretty convincingly). It made a difference.

I am so sorry for your loss and also know Jack is reunited with Aunt Erm (my favorite) and his dad and Jill (whom I don’t remember but who live on in family lore) along with many other members of the Horgan family. We are keeping you in our prayers.

Just recently read that Jack had passed. We are so deeply saddened for your loss. I remember him as always having a smile and a warm hello. We recently saw him when my cousin, Tom Dougherty, passed away in November. He was a childhood neighbor and his memory will be treasured.

Loved the always infectious smile and humor of Jack. I'll miss a true college friend and character. Miss ya' Mike Horan.

The Horgan family- our sincerest condolences. Jack was a perfect partner for our dear mom, Susan. Our children Joley and Paul grew up with Jack. Paul and Jack will forever be linked with their love for the Pirates. We will miss him. We are thankful for the years of happiness he brought to all of us- especially to Sue.

I met Jake very first day at IUP and I have been friends with him ever since. He was always fun. But as I got to know him over the years I learned to understand him even better. He was full of goodnes-kind, thoughtful, compassionate, intelligent and broadly aware of the world around us.

I would run into Jake at many different places sporting events, taverns, a Giant Eagle, walking downtown or a local town. It happened often. I was lucky. We always lingered and talked and laughed a lot. I am sad—I have lost a really good friend and we all have lost a really good dude.

Dear Horgan family, Jack was one of the kindest men I ever knew. His parents and mine were best of friends from the Friday night tea drinkers bowling group. We had so many fun times at picnics at my cottage. He was one in a million! In grade school I had a huge crush on him all of the girls did. As a teacher we reconnected later in life and he helped me find jobs for my students getting ready to graduate. He had a heart of gold and found good in even the challenged students. Heaven has a new angel. I am blessed that I knew Jack and got to see him again this past Christmas. He was truly an amazing man!

I am saddened by Jack's passing. Over the 40 years, as buddies, starting when we were all single, there was the 'gang of 4' (Jack, Jim Cunningham (JC), Dave Guo (G-man), and myself), who would go out and enjoy life on Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday nights, when we would not otherwise have dates. During our 40's and 50's, we drifted apart to tend to our individual lives. But then returned in our 60's and beyond, again to enjoy each other's company. Over the last few years, it was the Thursday morning coffee that both Jack, JC, and myself looked forward to enjoying, talking about life, politics, current events, sports, and the like. I will miss these times, but always remember Jack's upbeat attitude, to push forward, even with his late-life health issues. Jack, I know you will be with us in thoughts and spirit, as we continue life's journey. We will be thinking of you, and remembering the good times together that we had. It is just too bad that it had to be cut short. God Bless.

I may not have known you all individually, but I knew Jack and your Mom Erma from working with her at the convention center. When I met Jack at the convention center or at the house. He was so nice. I am sorry to hear of Jack's dying. I remember him as Maureen's handsome big brother. It was nice to read of all the contributions he had made to his community. He was a good person.

Jack was the President of our SVdP conference when I joined and we did many home visits together. He served our group with compassion and the utmost respect to the people of our community. It was a great pleasure to have known him and deepest sympathy to his entire family for his loss.

Deepest condolences to Maureen, Dan, Ralph, Ron, Susan and their families. Jack will be missed. I’m so glad I had the privilege of being around Jack so much while I was growing up. Jack was always smiling and loved sharing a good laugh. Jack was my confirmation sponsor and a genuine good guy. I’ll always remember him dressing as Santa Clause on Christmas Eve and enjoying a little bourbon through the Santa beard. RIP, cousin.

To my teammate and most importantly to my friend. You were a major part of the Duquesne Dukes success in 1973 championship. I will miss our talks ever Homecoming talking about our family, and the great football skills we once had. God bless my friend.
