Obituary of MaryAnne Nelson Linden
We are saddened to announce the passing of MaryAnne Nelson Linden,
66, who died Tuesday, September 13, 2022. MaryAnne was born in Coeur
d'Alene, Idaho and later moved with her family to McLean, Virginia during
her teenage years. She obtained a Bachelor's degree in Nursing at
Marymount College and worked as a dedicated oncology nurse at George
Washington University Medical Center for 12 years. During this time, she
became a well-respected researcher and also met and married her
husband Peter in 1986. They then moved to Pittsburgh to start a family of
four children, to whom MaryAnne dedicated her time and love for the next
two decades. Her life in Pittsburgh was characterized by an intense
commitment to her neighbors, friends, and greater community. She was
especially passionate about connecting families through organizations such
as Mother’s Day Out and the St. Bede Parish and Parent-Teacher Guild.
MaryAnne was also involved in starting the first lacrosse league for young
girls in Pittsburgh's East End. She was also an avid gardener, a skilled
photographer, and a devoted animal lover. MaryAnne is survived by her
husband Peter Linden and their loving children, Joseph Linden, Hannah
Linden and her husband Edward Bornn, Catherine Piatkiewicz and her
husband Adrian Piatkiewicz, and Jack Linden and his fiancée Maggie
Boldry. She is also survived by her loyal service dog, Bear. Friends will be
received at McCabe Brothers Funeral Home, 5300 Penn Ave, Pittsburgh,
PA 15224, on Friday, September 23rd beginning at 5 pm, followed by a 6
pm Blessing Service. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be
