Obituary of Joseph P. Indovina
Joseph P. Indovina
Of Shadyside formerly of O’Hara Twp., on Tuesday, May 17, 2022, age 75. Beloved husband of 47 years to Susan M. Indovina; father of Lauren Beth Indovina (fiancé Lan Laucirica); brother of Marie Wertz (Donald) and Robert Indovina (Linda); son of the late Joseph and Lena Indovina; uncle of Ryan Indovina, Gary Wertz, and Michael Wertz; beloved nephew of Joseph Pegnato; lifelong friend of Ralph Papa; special cousin of Tony Indovina; Joe was the founding partner of Indovina Associates Architects.
Joe was an extraordinarily talented artist and sculptor. He was a brilliant father who taught by example and a devoted husband who was madly in love with his wife Susan. He was smart, clever, kind, and immensely prolific. A consummate student of the world, he was in constant pursuit of creative and intellectual ideals. He never lost his sense of wonder, whether this meant admiring his deer pals who’d graze by his studio, to taking a picture of the sunset at the Highland Park reservoir, a scene he’d seen many times but never stopped appreciating its beauty.
Joe often joked he was born too soon on this earth and would have preferred to be alive farther in the future. Though he didn’t get his own personal “Robby The Robot”, a “HAL 9000” or a bionic spinal column, we’re pleased to share that he was surrounded by the autonomous mobile robots at UPMC who support the staff and peruse the halls helping him and others heal.
Friends received at McCabe Bros., Inc. Funeral Home, 6214 Walnut Street, Shadyside on Monday, from 10 to 11 am, followed by a graveside committal at Calvary Cemetery. Condolences may be left at www.mccabebrothers.com
