Obituary of Nelson Robert Metzger

On Sunday, Feb 27th, 2022, Nelson Robert Metzger, of Pittsburgh, passed from this earth into the loving arms of his Savior Jesus Christ. Nelson was the son of Charles William Metzger Jr of Pittsburgh, PA & Jeanne Marian Reichert Metzger, originally from Kingston, PA, both deceased. He was also the devoted husband of Ella Marie Crawford Metzger and devoted father of Liam Nelson Metzger, both of N. Versailles, PA. Nelson was born in Wilkinsburg, PA on April 5, 1961 and grew up there, graduating from Wilkinsburg High School in 1979. He was a long time employee at the Crafton warehouse of OK Grocery, belonging to Teamsters local #636. Nelson was a kind and gentle person. He enjoyed fishing, Sudoku and crossword puzzles, and most recently, spoiling his cat, Buddy Bear. He was also an avid fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers, Pirates and Penguins. In addition to his wife and son, he is survived by his brother and best friend Paul William Metzger of Pittsburgh, PA, half brother David Lee Metzger of Dunnellon, FL, half sister Ann Roberta Metzger Crawford of Monroeville, PA, as well as numerous cousins, half nephews and a half niece. A Celebration of Life service will be held at a later date at the Fourth Presbyterian Church, 5450 Friendship Ave, Pgh, PA 15232.
