Obituary of Barbara L. Fritz

Barbara L. Fritz Jan. 9, 1933 – Sept. 19, 2021 Barbara L. Fritz, 88, died peacefully on Sunday, Sept. 19, 2021, while living with family in Virginia. She is survived by her children, Bill (Johnstown, Pa.), James and Heather (Chesapeake, Va.), and Juliann and Chris Brigham (Park City, Utah), six grandchildren, two great-grandchildren (with a third due later this year), her and her husband’s siblings, and many nieces and nephews. Born in Pittsburgh to Barbara and Vincent Jacob, she graduated from Divine Providence Academy and worked at the PA Bell Telephone Co. until marrying Thomas V. Fritz in 1959. The couple had an amazing life journey together lasting nearly 50 years. When he was transferred to Washington, D.C. for work, Barbara made a lovely home in McLean, Va., and also started a new career at Garfinkle’s, a prominent department store. A devout Roman Catholic, she is preceded in death by her husband, her parents and in-laws, a daughter-in-law, her brother and his wife, three brothers-in-law and several beloved friends. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday at 10 am in St. Joseph The Worker Parish, St. Colman Church, 100 Tr-Boro Expy., Turtle Creek, PA 15145.
