My deepest condolences on the passing of Dr. Francesca Colecchia. She was an excellent professor of Spanish literature at Duquesne University, and she had high expectations for all her students. I will always remember being in her class and reading and translating the oldest Spanish epic poem, El Cantar de mio Cid. Dr. Colecchia lived a full life of academic pursuit, and passionately shared her learning with all of us. I am keeping her family, friends, colleagues and students in my thoughts and prayers.

I knew her through one of our graduates, Nadine Ostrowski, and the few times I met her, I was impressed by her great passion for life and her scholarship. I am so so sorry to hear that Fran passed away. I wish I would have known. She was my Godmother and a huge part of mine and my mother's (Ursula Ostrowski, who passed in 2009) lives for decades. She was very much loved and will be greatly missed. Rest in peace, Fran.
