I did not know that Josie died until my last Christmas card was returned. I was very close with her brother Pete through my mother Margie Evans Yurko. I loved Pete from age 12 through his death when I was 48. I got to know Josie during that time and she sometimes spent holidays with my Mom and her husband when I was there. Josie tried to take good care of Pete.

Josie was also kind to my daughter and we used to take her and Pete out for Thanksgiving dinner when my daughter was young and she always had gifts for her. I checked in with her a few times a year.

Josie was always so put together and immaculately dressed! She was also kind and had many friends.

I am glad to hear about all of the family around her. I knew that she loved her husband's children as her own. I know that she is resting now with her husband.

So very sorry to hear of Jo's passing. I worked with Jo many years ago at the City of Pittsburgh Cable Bureau. Jo was the consummate professional. She was willing to learn and perfect whatever technology came along and was always looking forward to tackling the next challenge. Her love of her family was very evident and her quick wit and dry sense of humor were a true gift to those around her.

Several years ago after taking Jo to lunch, we decided to take a tour of her old neighborhood in East Liberty, which she hadn't visited in many decades. She showed us her childhood home, her school, and even the neighborhood grocery store. She recounted how she went to the store as a girl and ordered "Five cents worth of jumbo" and the grocer responded with the wisecrack "Yinz having a party?" Jo understood the sarcasm, even as a young girl. Jo was a wonderful human being and will be remembered for her kindness and compassion for everyone. Jo was strong and feisty and yet caring, charitable and generous. She was completely devoted to her family and her close friends. Jo humbly lived her faith and did not talk about it. She truly walked the walk. Jo will be missed.

My deepest condolence's to all who knew and loved Josephine. Her kindness and smile would light up the room. I knew her from the dentist I have worked at for 33 years. Her hair was always perfect and she just loved when you let he know. She always had us laughing with her quick wit. I only saw her every 6 months but Josephine was one of those people you meet in life where your life was better because you knew her. Jo G, as she was affectionately called by her Cecere Cousins, was a big part of my life growing up. Her Dad, Uncle John, was my Grandma Madeline Tomasino Cecere's brother. They lived on the same street and my mother, Rose Ann, was especially close with "The Girls" as the 3 daughters were known. We had many great family times, dinners at their apartment and picnics in my backyard. I idolized their single working life. Once my mother had to travel for her job and I stayed with The Girls for 4 days! What a thrill! They remained close in heart to me. JoG was always smiling, kind, to the point and fun. But even my mother, known for her beautiful and delicious cakes could not tempt JoG with dessert or even Jello during Lent.

I was around when she was dating Bill. Just a lovely man! He brought out a lightness and joy in JoG. Her smile deepened. They were a special couple. I am sure part of the reward God has planned will be their happy, forever reunion in Heaven.

I met Jo about 20 years ago through my Husband, who is one of her stepsons. Having lost my own Mother nearly 40 years ago, Jo filled a special place in my heart. She was caring and compassionate, strong and resilient and engaging and curious. Simply put, she was just someone you wanted to be around! I will forever treasure the time that I had with her.

I got to know Josie when I moved to the Parklane. She was friendly and a person that I could talk to.

I admired the way she was able to live independently and still drive.I was impressed how she was able to move 2 times during the construction at the Parklane.. I will always remember Josie's cheerful ways.

Jo was one of the friends I met at Vintage Senior Center. The last time I saw her was a beautiful sunny summer day when a group of us met for lunch - socially distanced of course - in the beautiful park area at Allegheny Cemetery. She was kind and caring, and we will surely miss her.

Aunt Jo was the sweetest, kindest woman that a friend or family member could ever have. She had a dry Witt about her and could make you laugh without trying to be funny. She loved going out with her family and enjoying a good meal and conversation.

She shared with us the many letters she kept between relatives still residing in Italy. Most were in Italian and she had them translated to English so we could all read them.

We will miss her greatly. RIP Aunt Jo...
