Obituary of Grace (Castro) Brenes

Originally of San Jose, Costa Rica, on Tuesday, June 2, 2020. Cherished daughter of the late Jorge Castro and Noemy Muñoz. Beloved mother of Ivan Brenes (Sayumi Saijo) of Kobe, Japan, and Kathia Kennedy (Charles A.). Grandmother of Grace and Alex Kennedy and Nina and Ami Brenes Saijo. Treasured “Tia” to José Gallegos (Suellen), Jordan and Maggie Gallegos and many more nieces and nephews. Sister of the late Jorge Castro (María Eugenia Terán), the late Olman Castro (Marta Ramirez), and Maggie Castro (Rafael Gallegos). Grace Brenes spent her retirement years being a warm, loving, full-time grandmother. Grace, known as “Ita,” short for “abuelita” or grandmother, a woman of deep love and faith in Christ, was a member of St. Joseph (O’Hara), St. Ignatius (Verona), and most recently St. Richard (Gibsonia). Prior to her retirement, she was a medical records director at the Children’s Hospital in San Jose, Costa Rica and worked as a medical office manager in Pittsburgh. A private Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Richard Church in Gibsonia, by invitation only due to pandemic restrictions.
