Obituary of Anne E. Bowes, Phd.

Anne E. Bowes, PhD Formerly of Point Breeze, Anne passed away on Thursday, May 21, 2020 at Harbour Senior Living Center in Monroeville. She was the daughter of the late Milton and Bernice Bowes and the adopted daughter of the late Louis A. and Gertrude Baton Ferris. Following graduation from Peabody High School and Allegheny College, Anne earned her PhD in Psychology at the University of Pittsburgh. For many years, she was a clinical child psychologist and director of clinical training at the Pittsburgh Child Guidance Center (later the Center for Children and Families at Western Psychiatric Institute and Clinic.) In her long and delightful retirement, she volunteered at East End Cooperative Ministry, Animal Friends, Women’s Shelter of Allegheny County, and in varied capacities at Third Presbyterian Church. She is survived by her brother, Louis A. Ferris, Jr., of Monroeville; nephews Daniel, David, and Donald Ferris; great nephews and great nieces; cousins, and a host of friends and former students.
