Hello…. If you are the family/ friends that dedicated the bench in highland park… I want to tell you how you’ve touched my heart and soul

In 2018 I sat on that bench with my daughter, it was the last time I saw her, she passed a few days later. When I saw your plaque it brought tears but some peace also. This February she would have been 40. I walk in the park all the time and pass this bench. Today I saw the birthday balloon. I want to wish you peace for your loss… and thank you for the peace you have brought to me and my family. I need something to hold onto… and that park is a special place. Thank you for making it more special if this is you….

There are no words big enough to tell you how very sorry I am about Des's passing. Our time together in Detroit picketing on Fridays with Jerry, Ethel and the group is a cherished memory. Our condolences to all of Dessie's family. Des was a good friend to all of us here in Detroit Irish Northern Aid Committee. We marched together in many St. Patrick's Day Parades and Irish Solidarity marches. We also enjoyed a lot of good conversations and a few pints of Guinness, as well. He will be missed and remembered by all of us here in Detroit.

I am so very sorry you have lost your beloved father, Clare and Aileen. I feel fortunate to have known Des and always enjoyed his company and hearing him talk with his beautiful Irish accent. His smile and laugh always lit up the room! Sending my love and heartfelt condolences.
