Condolences
Rest in Peace Tom. Your humor, guidance and positive outlook helped several of us in the Chicago area to be better referees and have a positive impact on rugby nationwide. Your influence has spread wide as we now endeavor to do the same.
I have fond memories of visiting Pittsburgh and the fun we had.
Condolences to all family and friends, he will be remembered well.

Deepest condolences to the family and friends of Tom from the rugby families at Moon Area HS and West Pittsburgh Foxes.
On a more personal note, I met Tom many, many years ago on the rugby field captaining Geneva College in the late 90s. Over the years I had the pleasure of interacting with Tom as a referee, administrator, referee coach, disciplinary chair, and friend.
Tom was truly a great guy on and off the field. He'll be deeply missed by everyone who knew him.
Our deepest condolences: T Barr, family, and friends.
As a collegiate rugger, T Barr officiated many of our matches in the late 70's and early 80"s.
Moving on to club Rugby with the PRFC T Barr was at a stalwart in seeing that the club fulfilled its potential in becoming a side that had to be reckoned with on a National Level.
I recall him BEAMING in try zone, camera in tow as we took the pitch in Tampa at the Nationals in 1987.
His vision was coming to fruition.
I am honored to have crossed paths with T Barr.
RIP T you are in great company now
cheers mate

Safe travels Tom and more thanks than space provides, for your insights and guidance on the arts of the rugby referee. You were a friend, guide, listening ear and more in the quest to become better than we were when you watched us, your many hours on the sidelines of the game you loved, that you were loved as part of.
Fare thee well, Tom.
Des Jones.
Tom is one of my first memories of working with USA Rugby referees on a national basis and was always an upstanding, outstanding individual in all matters. People of Tom's stature are rare. He is missed.
With many here, met Tom through the Pittsburgh Rugby Club and knew him best in the context of always advancing the team and the sport. But there was much more beyond the touch lines, and that will be missed most. Condolences to his family and all those he held close.

T Barr : A stable voice of reason and prudent behavior during the rugby days of the 70’s . Life was different then , pretty wild ,lots of laughs without hurting anyone. Our brothers are missed as the list grows .

3 favorite memories of T Barr:
1 - In the late 90s, you had to go through Tom to schedule a referee for a rugby match, and he didn't answer his phone much : )
I can still his answering machine - This is Tom Barr aannddd his answering machine.
2 - When I was captain, at Clarion, one of our players punched a player from the opposing team, causing this player to have a nasty gash head gash. Tom was not happy with this example of flagrant play from our player. Tom proceeded to give our player the red card and kick him out of the park.
3 - It was very special to me for Tom to referee a large number of my college matches, some mens club matches, and most special, a recent alumni match. I was able to speak with him after the alumni match and thank him for being a referee for all this years - I hope he took my words to heart.
You were a good person Tom. Many thinks and appreciation for your dedication to Western PA rugby.
I knew TBarr more from when my older brother played rugby with him. He was genuine, friendly and salt-of-the-earth. My sympathies to Tom's family.
Deepest condolences to the family of Tom Barr. Tom was a great and long time friend and I will miss him greatly. He was a great example to me of how to live life well and how to be a friend. Rest in Peace my good friend Tom.
