Obituary of Aileen McGinley

McGinley, Aileen Cecilia Aileen Cecilia McGinley was born April 5th, 1918 in Spangler, PA to Charles and Mary Gallagher McGinley and died peacefully on Wednesday, June 15th, 2016. She was 98 years old. Aileen was the last child born to Mary and Charles. In addition to her parents, Aileen was preceded in death by her sister Mary McGinley, her sister Alice McGinley, her sister Sara Nelson (Redd), her sister Rita Murphy (Gerry), brothers Edward and Joseph, and her niece Debbie McGuire. She is survived by her niece Kathy Baur (the late Rob), her niece Marilyn Lucente (Angelo), her nephew Terry Murphy (Debbie), and many great nieces and great nephews. Aileen’s father was a well-known hotel man but at an early age died from diabetes. Two years later her mother moved the family to Pittsburgh. Aileen had lived all of her life in the Bloomfield, Garfield, Morningside, and Lawrenceville boroughs. Her last years were spent at St. Augustine Plaza with the Franciscan nuns and a new found family that included Maggie, Grace, Geri, Joan, Joasie, Helen, and many others. She will also be missed by longtime friend Jim Kirby. We wish to give thanks to the wonderful people of Vincentian de Marillac in Stanton Heights who took such good care of her in her last years. No visitation. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held in St. Raphael Church on Saturday at 10 am. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial Masses at St. Raphael Church.
