Charles “Chuck”
Of Morningside on Tuesday, August 7, 2018, age 82. Beloved husband of the late Mary Alice Kennedy; father of Kathaleen Marie Cole (Mark), Charles A. Kennedy (Kathia), and Rosemary Morgan Kennedy (John Wallace); grandfather of Kaitlyn, Carolyn, and Pauline Cole, Grace and Alexander Kennedy, and Morgan and Jack Wallace; brother of Mary Eileen Landers (the late Howard), James Kennedy (Judy), and Patricia Wilson; uncle to several nieces and nephews; and companion of the late Barbara Hirst. A proud Central Catholic High School alum (Class of ’53), Chuck was looking forward to celebrating his 65th reunion with classmates. He was certainly there in spirit last week. A lifelong Pittsburgher, he served as a dedicated City Police Officer for 29 years. Chuck was an active member of St Raphael Parish for 52 years, where he served as Eucharistic Minister and money counter. With an ever-present smile on his face, Chuck enjoyed life to the fullest, never letting anything dampen his spirits or slow him down. In addition to being a fantastic, fulltime grandfather, he spent his retirement years enjoying time with friends, organizing events at the senior center and taking trips. Always willing to try something new, his standard answer to new suggestions was “Why not?” And when asked “How are you?”, his response was a resounding “Wonderful!” followed by a listing of all the things that made him feel so lucky. Friends received at McCabe Bros., Inc. 6214 Walnut Street, Shadyside on Tuesday and Wednesday, 2-4 and 6-8 pm, where Funeral will commence on Thursday at 9 am, followed by Mass of Christian Burial in St. Raphael Church at 10 am.
