A lifelong resident of Squirrel Hill, died unexpectedly on Thursday, May 17, 2018 at the age of 78. Marilyn is survived by her sister Lois and brother-in-law Neil Amper; her nephew Brian Amper and his wife Lisa Salerno; her niece Lindsay Amper and her husband, Paul Daily; as well as their two children, Owen and Olivia Amper-Daily. Marilyn was born on November 12, 1939 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to the late Sidney and Edith Maier. She graduated from Point Park College and worked for Alcoa as an administrative assistant for many years. Marilyn was an avid Penguins fan and enjoyed gardening, cooking, baking, and sewing. She was a devoted and loving sister, aunt and great aunt. Friends received at McCabe Bros., Inc. Funeral Home, 6214 Walnut Street, Shadyside, on Monday, from 10:30 am until time of service at 11:30 am. Interment will take place at Jefferson Memorial Cemetery, followed by a reception. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in Marilyn’s name to The American Heart Association or the American Cancer Society. www.mccabebrothers.com
