My heart is broken to know that one of my favorite young men has passed from this earth. He and his brothers are like sons to me. My own son passed away early in 2018 so that my perspective on DJ's death is colored by the emotion that is attached to losing a son and a dear friend.
DJ's mother and dad are best friends as well and there is no compensation for losing ones' child. It will live with us until the end of our lives. As Christians we are blessed with the soft touch of Jesus and His father. Taking our sons into His Heavenly kingdom comforts each and all of us to know that neither son is in pain, has no physical discomfort, and will never suffer again.
I've been thinking about DJ since I learned of his passing. There were so many things that I loved about him. He had an incredible love for music and humor; he had a passion for his family members. And, he always called his mom and me "the dynamic duo". To know him was to love him. Thanks be to God.
