Patricia Ann (Bailey)
Age 80, of Pittsburgh, PA, loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away on Thursday, May 4, 2017 with her family by her side. She was born on July 26, 1936 in Mount Pleasant, PA. Patricia is survived by her nine children, Deborah Bartolomeo (Don), Richard Gatto, Charles Gatto, Michael Gatto (Linda), Christina Zalin (Robert), David Gatto, Dianne Zalin (Ronald), Dominic Gatto (Georgine) and Carl Gatto; twenty grandchildren; and fifteen great-grandchildren. She is also survived by two aunts, three sisters-in-law, two brothers-in-law, and many cousins, nieces and nephews. In addition to her mother, Wilma (Biller) Oparnica and step-father, Joseph Oparnica, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Charles Gatto. She earned a degree from Conley Nursing School and worked as a LPN for St. Joseph Nursing Home in Pittsburgh. The moments she cherished the most were the times spent with family. Her strength and perseverance were an inspiration to many. Friends and relatives will be received at McCabe Brothers Funeral Home, 5300 Penn Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA 15224 on Monday, May 8, 2017 from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. The funeral will commence at the funeral home on Tuesday, May 9, 2017 at 9 am, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Saint Maria Goretti Roman Catholic Parish, Friendship Campus, 300 Edmond Street, Pittsburgh, PA 15224 at 10 a.m. Interment will follow at Allegheny Cemetery, 4734 Butler Street, Pittsburgh, PA 15201. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made in her name to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or the National Kidney Foundation, Finance Department, 30 East 33rd St., New York, NY 10016. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Harmar Village in Harmarville for the devoted care they gave Patricia.
